A Standby dress is a dress that fits you well, easy to wear, makes you feel good and can be dressed up or dresses down

Hello Ladies,

Last summer I did a whole video on Standby dresses. A Standby dress is a dress that fits you well, easy to wear, makes you feel good and can be dressed up or dresses down. Every woman should have a standby dress or two in her wardrobe just in case an unexpected occasion comes up or you just don't feel inspired to put an outfit together someday- you can always pull out your standby dress, put in on and be confident in knowing that you look good with minimum effort. Here are my top Standby dresses this spring

Mint Polkadot wrap dress

This is one of my favourite dresses this season and I have already worn it a few times this season. I featured this dress in last weeks blog as a good choice for post-partum period as it is wrap style which provides good access for breastfeeding, it has a raised waistline which means that it emphasizes the slimmest part of my waist (just below my ribs) and is A-line which means that it skims over my less than toned post-partum tummy. This is a great Standby dress because it fits well, is universally flattering and it can be styled in so many different ways.

Style idea no1

I've put it with a t-shirt underneath and flat shoes for an easy weekend look. I would also wear something like that for work as a smart casual look. The crisp T-shirt covers up the cleavage to make the outfit more office-appropriate while the contrast low heel shoes both smarten up the look and add a pop of colour.

A pair of heals and layered gold necklace for a more dressy look

Style idea no3

I achieved a very casual look by teaming the dress with a pair of while Nike AF and a denim jacket. That is something I would feel great wearing on a day out with my kids. It's comfortable, took no time at all to put together but looks smart and captures my sense of classic style.

Monochrome dress

This dress is a variation on a LBD except it's in monochrome. It does everything LBD does- suitable for any occasion, can be dressed up or dressed down, easy to wear.

I teamed it with a black blazer and ankle boots for a smart casual look that would be office friendly

Style idea no2

I teamed it with a white blazer and high heels for a more dressy look. It's a perfect outfit for communion or confirmation or even for a wedding guest.

Style idea no3

Once again I put the dress together with a denim jacket and runners for an easy weekend look. I have also removed the satin belt to make the dress flowier and more casual. You could replace the denim jacket with a motor or bomber jacket.

Print dress

I love this dress because of its unusual design. It has built it rouched belt that wraps around the waist pulling me in and giving me a more feminine shape.

Once again the addition of high heels makes the dress perfect for occasion wear. The perfect look for drinks after work too

Style idea no2

I added a trench coat for a smart casual look perfect timeless and elegant look

Style idea no3

I added a short knit jumper for a day-to-night look. The dress serves as an A-line skirt with the jumper on which would be a great office look and for after work drinks just whip the jumper off slip on a pair of heels and you are all set.

All the style ideas featured here can be mixed and matched with any of the dresses- go wild and have fun! :)

Kind regards,
